Analysis, Dosing and Process Circulation

Scanacon pioneered the use of specialized ion-selective electrode technology for the analysis of mixed acids containing HF nearly 30 years ago with the revolutionary SA30. Since that time, we have continued to refine the worlds only purpose built acid-metal analyzer for the stainless and specialty alloy pickling and milling industry.

Circulation of the process solution provides many benefits in most finishing applications. Unless adequate circulation is maintained in the process tanks, stratification of the solution can occur, resulting in regions of high and low pickling / etching activity and inconsistent and unpredictable process conditions. Introducing circulation into the process tanks ensures a homogeneous solution, eliminating the stratification phenomenon. Secondary benefits of circulation are that suspended materials are kept in suspension, facilitating their removal by process filtration, and extending the useful life of the process solution.

Studies have shown that in some cases pickling time decreases by up to 40% by adequately circulating the process bath, thus a significant production increase can be achieved with no additional changes to the process, and is a very efficient and cost effective way to eliminate potential bottlenecks in a finishing process.

Accurate acid dosing is critical to process stability. Knowing “when” to add acid is as critical as “how much”; functions that are ensured with Scanacon’s dosing systems.
