Savings
By adopting optimized process control:
- Productivity increases by or greater than 40%
- reduce acid purchases by 65%
- Solid wastes from neutralization of pickling wastes by 40%
- Waste-water treatment plant chemicals by 50%
- Nitrate (NO3-) discharge by 60%
- Rinsing water consumption by 90%
Continuous removal of suspended solids from the acid process eliminates the need to dump the waste acid due to sludge buildup and extends the working life by several orders of magnitude. Adopting SAR® acid-metal separation further improves acid savings by continually removing dissolved metal contaminants and recycling acid back to the pickling or milling process. Through acid fi ltration and recovery technology, total acid savings of 50% or greater can be achieved. Eliminating free acid loss due to dumping to control dissolved metals offers the producer the ability to save 40% or greater in neutralization chemicals such as lime or sodium hydroxide and the associated disposal costs of the resulting precipitated solids.
